NANNI Marine Diesel Maintenance Schedule: N16–1000
Periodic maintenance is essential to maximize performance and extend the life of your NANNI engine. We follow NANNI guidance and tune intervals for Ventura, Oxnard, Channel Islands Harbor, and Santa Barbara Harbor. Transmission service intervals and details are determined by the transmission manufacturer; see the transmission maintenance manual for specifics.
Note: The hour meter is non-resettable and displays total operating hours since factory acceptance—use it to plan service milestones.

Important Tips
- Logbook: Maintain a detailed maintenance log (date, hours, parts, torque values).
- Professional Service: Have a certified 805 Marine Mechanic conduct annual inspections and any major services.
- Spare Parts Onboard: Oil & fuel filters, belts, an impeller, zincs, and coolant.
Cleaning the Centrifugal Oil Cleaner
During cleaning you should find dirt deposits on the paper in the rotor cover. If the paper is clean, the unit may not be functioning—investigate the cause. Renew paper more frequently if deposits exceed 28 mm (1.1″) at a scheduled oil change.
- Clean the cover.
- Unscrew the nut securing the outer cover.
- Let the oil drain from the rotor.
- Lift out the rotor and wipe the exterior.
- Loosen the rotor nut ~1.5 turns.
- If jammed: invert rotor; clamp the rotor nut in a vice with protective jaws.
- Rotate the rotor 1.5 turns counterclockwise by hand.
- If still stuck: use two nuts with an M20 screw; seat the screw head in the rotor; hold the lower nut with a ring spanner and turn the rotor 1.5 turns counterclockwise.
- Remove the rotor cover by holding the rotor with both hands and tapping the rotor nut against the table. Never strike the rotor directly.
- Remove the strainer from the rotor cover; if stuck, carefully pry apart at the interface.

Why Localized Service Matters (Ventura • Channel Islands • Santa Barbara)
Our harbors’ warm, saline water accelerates zinc wear, scale, and corrosion. Slip-kept vessels often require shortened inspection intervals: zinc checks every 6 months, impeller inspection each season, and more frequent heat-exchanger descaling. We adjust your NANNI cadence to hours, workload, and seasonality—and document everything for planning, warranty, and resale.
What We Do on Every 805 Marine Visit
- Verify concerns; review logbook; baseline temps, pressures, and voltages
- Perform the scheduled checklist using OEM-spec parts/fluids
- Run-up test, leak check, and berth/sea-trial on request
- Provide written findings, prioritized recommendations, and next-interval plan
DIY Tips for NANNI Owners
- Log hours and plan service around manufacturer milestones
- Carry spare Racor elements, belts, impeller, and zincs onboard
- Watch for rising ECT or lost RPM—early signs of restriction or scale
- Inspect mixing elbows for corrosion; replace on schedule
- Protect resale value with organized records and stamped invoices

NANNI Maintenance FAQ
How often should I service my NANNI N16–1000?
Follow factory intervals; in warm, salty Southern California, shorten checks for zincs, impeller, strainers, and heat-exchanger descaling.
Do you handle transmission service?
Yes—service intervals follow the transmission manufacturer’s manual (e.g., ZF). We coordinate engine and gearbox care to minimize downtime.
What causes most overheating issues?
Scale in heat exchangers and restricted raw-water flow from worn impellers, clogged strainers, or failing mixing elbows.
Do you use OEM NANNI parts?
Yes. Genuine NANNI/OEM components protect reliability, performance, and warranty compliance.
Do you provide dockside service in my harbor?
Yes—Ventura Harbor, Channel Islands Harbor, Santa Barbara Harbor, and Oxnard.
