Sea Trial Report
| Sea Trial Item | Observation |
|---|---|
| Engine Starting | Engines started immediately without excessive cranking. |
| Exhaust Appearance | Exhaust output appeared clean and normal. |
| Cooling Water Exhaust | Cooling-water discharge appeared adequate and unrestricted. |
| Instrumentation | All gauges and instrumentation operated within normal ranges. |
| Steering System | Steering system extremely responsive and smooth. |
| Throttle Operation | Throttle controls operated properly at all RPM ranges. |
| Transmission Operation | ZF transmissions shifted smoothly with no abnormal noise or seal leaks. |
| Backdown Test | Backdown maneuver satisfactory. |
| Rudder Linkage | Rudder linkage operated smoothly underway with no leakage. |
| Oil & Coolant Leaks | No oil or coolant leaks observed on engines or in exhaust discharge. |
| Bow & Stern Thrusters | Both thruster systems operated smoothly and responsively. |
WOT TEST:
Wide-open-throttle sea-trial testing produced clean power with no visible smoke from either Caterpillar engine. Engines achieved approximately 2270 RPM with smooth acceleration and excellent overall performance characteristics.
Oil Analysis
Performed oil sampling and laboratory analysis on both Caterpillar C12.9 propulsion engines and both Cummins/Onan generator systems.

Findings
Twin Caterpillar C12.9 marine engines operated extremely smooth with strong power output and low operating hours. No black smoke or abnormal combustion conditions observed during inspection or sea-trial testing.
Generator Oil Analysis Finding:
Trace levels of water (0.1%) detected in port Onan generator oil sample which may be caused by condensation. Recommend changing oil and filter, operating generator for approximately 10 hours, and resampling oil for confirmation.
Marine Engine Survey Summary
As a result of this marine engine survey, ECM diagnostic evaluation, sea-trial testing, and by virtue of experience, the overall propulsion package appears exceptionally maintained. Engine room spaces were clean, organized, dry, and virtually free of oil residue or contamination.
OVERALL ENGINE RATING: VERY GOOD

Wide Open Throttle Sea Trial
[videopress LPRMJ78u]
(WOT) wide-open-throttle sea trial reached approximately 25.4 knots at 2270 RPM with fuel burn averaging approximately 50 gallons per hour per engine.
